The authors of the Mad World series met during high school, when they competed on their school’s mock trial team (Erin would go on to become a lawyer, and Troy would end up watching lots of Law & Order). Years later, while browsing the shelves of a local bookstore, the two decided to join forces and write a series of novels together. They plotted out the first book on the ride home and continued to plot the series at every opportunity—countless nights out at restaurants, sunny days spent on the lake, and a trip to see The Rocky Horror Show performed by local college kids. Erin’s husband was frequently bored to tears, but as a therapist, he provided invaluable insight for Wakefield. Erin and Troy hope you enjoy reading the series as much as they’ve enjoyed writing it.
Erin Callahan. Erin grew up by a small glacial lake in New Hampshire and, after brief stints in Colorado and Rhode Island, she settled in the granite state with her husband. As a small child, she told her mother she'd defaced a wall with crayons because she'd been possessed by an imp. She's convinced that same imp drives her to write. When she's not at her day job or cranking out novels on her laptop, you can find her soaking in the new golden era of television, stalking her favorite musicians on Twitter, trying not to embarrass herself on the volleyball court, and reading books of all sorts. She loves the color red, hates the phrase "no offense," and thinks birds are creepy. A year after graduating from law school, she found herself unemployed and took a job at a facility similar to the one featured in Wakefield. She lasted only a year, but the kids she met there will forever serve as a well of inspiration.
Troy H. Gardner. Troy grew up in New Hampshire and graduated with a B.A. in English/Communications with a dual concentration in film and writing from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. He spent ten years working in the banking industry dreaming up numerous stories to write. When not working on his writing, which is seldom, Troy conquers video games.
